Vinyl Record Brochure

Publication Design
Project Overview
I was tasked with creating an informational brochure for anyone interested in vinyl records. How they work, how to care for them, etc. The goal was to create a series of spreads that had a running header or footer, and I decided to take that as a challenge to create a continuous line that went from page to page.
My Contributions
I was given the freedom to create my own content for the brochure, so I conducted my own research and used personal experience to make the written material. I then created my own color palette and chose photographs that went with the theme I’d chosen to create a cohesive foundation for the brochure I would create.
When digitizing my initial sketches for the brochure spreads, I found that the most difficult part was figuring out how to create the running stripes through each of the pages without it becoming distracting from the actual information. I had to play with composition and ensure the visual hierarchy worked the way I wanted for the brochure’s imagery and written content.

I think my favorite part of the project was working on the page about “the science behind records”. Creating the type that wraps around the vinyl image was probably the most enjoyable part of the digitizing process. Also, I enjoyed playing around with the stripe on the history page, seeing how I could make the text interact with the shape and direction of the lines, and what made the most sense to the average audience member.
