Type Specimen Book

Graphic Design
Project Overview
I was tasked with creating a booklet to showcase the versatility and different weights of Freight Text, a serif font available through Adobe Fonts. The goal was to create successful spreads to advertise the typeface to the viewer to want to use it in their own designs.
The End Product
I created my color palette, conducted my own research for the booklet's content, and experimented with different compositions and layering for the text. In the end, I created a booklet that balances both the colorful, text heavy pages with breathable white space that contains the information for the viewer.

Publication Design

After I decided to make a specimen book on Freight Text, I believed that choosing a color palette was gonna be the next crucially important step. Because my chosen typeface was a humanist class, I thought it would be interesting to choose bright and funky colors to contrast with the associations of my type's class. Proving a humanist serif could be made modern and versatile was a challenge I was eager to take on.

I wanted to make someone fall in love with my chosen typefaces through a specimen book with a creative concept & innovative type usage. Showcasing the anatomy of the letterforms, the curves of the strokes; the elegant serifs; the different feelings evoked from the various weights of a type family; all of this was important to me as I layered blocks of color and type.
